Fishing on Hatteras Shipwrecks
The inshore and offshore waters off Hatteras Inlet hold many shipwrecks. Some are artificial fishing reefs that were created by the state of North Carolina to enhance recreational fishing opportunities. Most of the shipwrecks are sites of natural disasters and some are wrecks that resulted from warfare activity, especially ships that were targets of enemy submarines in World War II. All serve as excellent fishing grounds, if you know how where to find them. That's where I come in!

On most days, we drift fish in the vicinity of these wrecks using a variety of baits and fishing techniques. This is fun fishing for all ages, and you never really know what will strike your bait! On wreckfishing trips, you will fish the inshore wrecks out to about ten miles. These wrecks hold many black seabass, greater amberjack, grey triggerfish, Atlantic spadefish, and cobia. All are excellent foodfish and hard fighters. The amberjack and cobia are large (fishes up to 50 pounds are not uncommon) and provide exciting action for both novice and experienced anglers.

On the offshore wrecks, we catch groupers, large sea bass, snappers, cobia, amberjack, and king mackerel. Offshore wrecks are in deep water, and fish concentrations are varied and often large. This is wreckfishing at its best - big fish - blue water - and lots of action!

The cost of a full day wreckfishing is $1000, and we provide all tackle, bait, and ice.
