Fishing information

Frequently Asked Questions

When will we depart?
Because of our unique location close to good fishing grounds, we don't have to leave at O'dark:30. The Runaway leaves the dock at sunrise, usually between 5:30 and 6:30 a.m.

Where is the dock?

Runaway ties up at Teach's Lair in Hatteras Village. We are easy to find.

When will we return?
Charters usually return between 4:00 and 5:00 p.m., after a full day of fishing.

How about drinks and lunch?
Yes, thank you.... No, seriously, you can buy nice breakfast and deli sandwiches and a variety of drinks at the Marina. BYOB.

Can I bring a non-fishing guest?
A charter is 1-6 persons, whether they fish or not. Children are welcome, but they count (Coast Guard regulations).

Bad weather?
The Captain reserves the right to cancel any trip, and makes that decision on the day of the charter. In the case of weather cancellations, you may reschedule or have all fees refunded.

Do you guarantee fish?
Absolutely not. But we do guarantee that we will work as hard as we can to catch fish and make your day as fun and as memorable as possible.

How do I charter a fishing trip?
Just use the contact information at the right to call or email Captain John, or fill in the form.
Captain John will get in touch with you to confirm and discuss details.
There is a fishing calendar on the Runaway home page where you can check to see what dates are currently available.
